PRODUCTION ENGINEER


Overview / Responsibilities

Wood is searching for a Production Engineer II with experience in the oil and gas industry. Successful candidate will be providing production engineering support our client's Northern Delaware, Oklahoma and Permian assets. The position will require interfacing with other employees, contractors and vendors to optimize production in a safe and environmentally sound manner. Effective teamwork is required as information is gathered and communicated between field operators and other team members. Due to the projected activity level in this area, the candidate must be highly motivated and willing to independently develop and provide solutions. Although based in Houston, the successful candidate will be expected to travel regularly(Quarterly) to field locations in New Mexico and Oklahoma. Ideal candidate will be comfortable in a fast paced environment and will feel comfortable juggling a variety of tasks. It is possible (but not guaranteed) that if the selected contractor is a strong performer, that he/she could be considered for the full time direct role with the client.


Location: Houston Office; local candidates only


Work Schedule: Hybrid (several days in the office, Friday's remote); Position requires quarterly travel to field sites


Key Responsibilities:

• Monitor production performance and recommend activities to maintain and increase rates for both conventional and unconventional wells.

• Schedule, write procedure for, and coordinate day-to-day field activities (remedial well work).

• Manage plugging and abandonment projects from approval through job completion.

• Contribute to the expense and capital project budget preparation, and expense tracking/optimization.

• Assist with record keeping in areas such as well work history and wellbore diagrams.

• Interact with other team members in a manner that will help build respect and achieve set goals.

• Initiate action that will enhance the operation's safety and environmental record. Ensure compliance with all company policies, procedures and plans along with federal, state and local regulations.

• Be proactive with continuous learning in all areas, especially emerging technology.

• Collaborate with field operators, production technicians, engineers and production supervisors to share ideas and generate solutions.

• At least 10% travel to field locations will be required.

• Knowledge of Marathon's policies and procedures, especially with production reporting, environmental and safety issues and measurement and production site security procedures.

• Travel: 10% travel to field locations


Skills / Qualifications

• Minimum Requirements:

• Engineering degree

• 2+ years of production engineering experience. Experience with various types of artificial lift (gas lift,plunger, rod lift, and ESP), well surveillance, diagnosing and trouble-shooting well operations.

• Excellent oral and written communications, teamwork, planning & organizational skills.

• Proficiency with the Microsoft suite of products, wellview, rodstar, spotfire, etc

• Nodal Analysis experience
